OctoberAssignment Writing Stuff

My theme for the October assignment was mirrors. Every single photo I took was in a mirror, whether you can see the frame or not. I chose this theme because it is honestly the easiest way to get a reflection. I think that I showed a large variety of styles and views one can take reflections. The pictures symbolize that not everything is as it seems.

In photoshop, I edited the pictures clarity, vibrance, and saturation. I tried to make the photos have the blackest blacks, and the whitest whites. There wasn't much editing to do after that because all the picture needed was to be turned into black and white. One photo, I changed what the mirror image was besides what the person looked like outside of the mirror from previous photography lessons.

I liked this project because it was cool to try and find all the different ways you can take a picture with certain props and having to edit them a certain way. These pictures were fun to shoot and weren't too difficult to uphold. One of my favourite projects so far.

Close Up & Focus Foreground [Assignment]

Close Up
Focused on the scratches, mainly the huge crack
in the centre of the board. I used highlights/shadows
to intensify the reds and blues. Then to make it look
a little darker I altered the hue/saturation.

Close Up
Graffiti wall, automatic focusing because it turned out better
than my fine focus shot. No alterations, original photo.

Focus Foreground
This photo was simple because the fine focus was set on the leaf so it
naturally makes the background blurry. I tried to focus on the water drops
because that is what I wanted to have the most focus on. In photoshop CS6,
I played around with hue/saturation to make the green seem more lively and
bright because it was too cloudy outside to capture its true colour.

Focus Foreground
There are a few ducks that stroll around our schools pond, and I spent a
day shooting and chasing them around. This is the original photo because
I couldn't find a way to increase the blue in the ducks feathers.

Bokeh [Assignment]

Out in the forest on the ground, looking ip towards the sky.
Early morning photo, sun rise. I edited the colours to make
it look more like fall. Bokeh number one.
Peeking through bushes, being able to see the little blue
specks of the blue sky. Mixed bright green and blue. Played
around with hue/saturation. Bokeh number two.

Bokeh [Tuesdays]

Bokeh Photos
These photos are all examples of bokeh photos. They are unique and cool to
look at. Many people will look at these photos are think you need high experience
and would be difficult to achieve, but if you read below it is quite easy.

This picture is used with the regular lens
of a camera without a shape outline.

When you want a certain shape to make the shape blur, you
would cut out a black piece of construction paper of the shape
or image you want. You adjust the aperture to make the blurred
lights bigger or smaller.

The photo will then look
this if you were to use a
flower cut out.
